Science communication
Warsaw University of Technology actively offers, manages and delivers outreach projects for the local community in the Mazovian Voivodeship.
Since 2022, it has organised the Festival of Young Engineers as part of the Warsaw Science Festival, a science-popularisation event that engages children, young people and adults through hands-on activities encouraging experimentation, discovery and creative thinking.
The festival is coordinated by the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, and is delivered by students, PhD students and researchers from six faculties, demonstrating strong institutional commitment and cross-faculty collaboration. The event has been recognised as a two-time winner of the Warsaw Science Festival plebiscite in the category “Most Interesting Large Festival Event.”
In addition, the Faculty coordinates National Materials Day, including topics devoted to nature-inspired materials, and takes part in scientific picnics and festivals for the regional community. These activities promote knowledge of engineering and materials science while also addressing important themes such as sustainability, recycling and life cycle analysis.
Together, these initiatives provide clear evidence of sustained educational and community engagement outreach delivered to the local population.
