Warsaw University of Technology in the QS Ranking by Subject

In the latest edition of the QS by Subject we have once again taken first place in Poland in the Engineering & Technology category. In the Natural Sciences we have retained third position in the country.

Five universities from Poland were included in the Engineering & Technology table of the QS Ranking by Subject. Warsaw University of Technology holds 199th place (up 31 places), and is above Wrocław University of Science and Technology (352nd place) and Warsaw University (377th place). For this area, 523 universities from all over the world were analysed.

The Engineering & Technology category covers seven individual subjects. They are: Computer Science & Information Systems, Chemical Engineering, Civil & Structural Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mineral & Mining Engineering and Petroleum Engineering.

Our University is listed in five of these subjects. In four of them, it holds first place in Poland:

  • Computer Science & Information Systems – 2nd place in Poland (251-300 globally),
  • Chemical Engineering – 1st place in Poland (201-250 globally),
  • Civil & Structural Engineering – 1st place in Poland (151-200 globally),
  • Electrical & Electronic Engineering – 1st place in Poland (151-200 globally),
  • Mechanical Engineering – 1st place in Poland (201-250 globally).

In the Natural Sciences category, Warsaw University of Technology was classified in 262nd place globally (22 places up). Six universities were included in the table. Two of them were ranked higher than WUT. They were Warsaw University (157th place) and Jagiellonian University (222nd place). In this area, 503 universities from all over the world were analysed.

The Natural Sciences category includes nine subjects: Chemistry, Earth & Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Geology, Geophysics, Materials Science, Mathematics and Physics.

Warsaw University of Technology is listed in four subjects and it holds first place in Poland in one of them:

  • Materials Science - 1st place in Poland (201-250 globally),
  • Chemistry – 3rd place in Poland (351-400 globally),
  • Mathematics – 2nd place in Poland (251-300 globally),
  • Physics – 2nd place in Poland (251-300 globally).

Warsaw University of Technology was also ranked in two more subjects outside of the listed categories. The first subject is architecture, where WUT holds 1st place in Poland (151-200 globally). The second subject is Business & Management Studies, for which we hold third position in the country (401-450 globally).

The QS Ranking by Subject is part of a group of rankings prepared by the Quacquarelli Symonds company – an international expert in higher education. The main QS Ranking (QS World University Ranking) is one of the four most important educational rankings globally.
